What are the penalties?

If convicted or burglary of a domestic dwelling, you can be punished by up to 14 years’ imprisonment. Burglary of a commercial building is punishable by up to 10 years’ imprisonment.

The length of your sentence and overall punishment will be based upon the severity of your offence, although a third burglary conviction carries a minimum prison sentence of three years.

Theft carries similar penalties, with the maximum sentence upon being found guilty of theft being 14 years’ imprisonment.
