Helen Lynch

Helen is employed by Draycott Browne as a specialist POCA consultant and she is widely considered to be one of the most experienced POCA lawyers in the country having been regularly instructed on some of the biggest and most complex cases.

Helen’s experience and expertise allow her to offer advice in relation to all POCA cases and ancillary matters such as applications under Section 11, Section 22, Section 23 and Section 10a’s.

Helen has specialised in POCA work for over 15 years in that time she has worked on some of the biggest cases including:

Supreme Court case of National Crime Agency v Gale – one of the leading cases in civil recovery • National Crime Agency v Aslam - another precedent setting civil recovery case

R v H - A multi million-pound “legal highs” case which, following a contested hearing, resulted in the benefit figure being reduced by over £4,000,000 which in turn lead to it being lower than the defendant’s available amount.

R v W - Another multi-million-pound “legal highs” case – the biggest in the Country. During this case, Helen’s work was highly praised by the Judge and Leading Counsel said of her efforts that it was… “the best piece of work I have seen in 37 years at the bar”. Her efforts involved a £7,000,000 hidden asset argument following a 5 day contested hearing.

R v Brooks - (As seen on 24 hours in police custody), she reduced the benefit figure from over £49,000,000 to under £1,000,000.

R v B - The longest running POCA case (9 years) reducing the benefit figure by several million pounds with the relevant conviction ultimately appealed with success.
