REGINA VS. ALEX HEPBURN - APPEAL AGAINST CONVICTION.

On the 12th April 2019, Alex Hepburn was convicted, at Worcester Crown Court, of an offence of rape by oral penetration. Whilst we did not represent Mr. Hepburn at trial, our Mr. Draycott was instructed to offer him advice and assistance in relation to an appeal against conviction. An application for permission to appeal was lodged and on the 30 th January 2020 confirmation was received from the Court of Appeal to the effect that the application had been granted.

On the 4th June 2020, lengthy submissions were made to the Court of Appeal (The Lord Chief Justice and two others) to the effect that the conviction previously recorded against Mr. Hepburn was unsafe. Following a two hour hearing, the Court reserved judgement. It follows that we are not in a position to set out further details of the case at this point. We look forward to the judgement being handed down at some point in the near future
